"Changing is uncomfortable, not changing is dangerous" - Charles Fadel

On Thursday 11 May I had the opportunity to attend the second Australian Learning Lecture (ALL). The lecture was the second in a biennial series of lectures by the ALL project, a joint project of the Koshland Innovation Fund and the State Library of Victoria. The project founders believe that to ensure future success our approach to learning needs to change. Each lecture in the series will serve as the foundation for a two-year programme of events designed to bring new thinking to learning and education in Australia.

I have to admit that I think I have misunderstood the 'Revolution School' concept. I wrote in my first blog about episode one that I had issues with the name of the series. I argued that I saw nothing revolutionary at work at Kambrya College and it was just good practice being used by knowledgable educators.

Wellbeing featured as the central theme of the third episode of the ABC 'Revolution School' series. It was fantastic to see the educators at Kambrya College take the mental health of their students so seriously and it was also great to see the expert help provided by the amazing Professor Lea Waters from the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.

Episode two of the ABCs excellent 'Revolution School' aired last night and it certainly gave us a 'warts-and-all' view of some of the issues that schools deal with on a regular basis.

I must admit I was initially very hostile towards the concept of the ABC 'Revolution School' series. I believe I said something along the lines of "Oh great! Another bunch of journalists to come along and tell us how to do our jobs because we are so terrible at them!" or words to that effect. However, after seeing the above extended promo I thought that PERHAPS this one might be different.
